My darling Son,

No letter for
ten days - since a week ago
Monday. I shall look for one
by this evening's mail, perhaps,
only to be disappointed. I am
trying my dear Son, to cast
this burden upon the Lord,
for broken fingers, rheumatic
limbs, and paralyzed nerves
haunt me. I fear a lesson of
this sort, will be necessary to
teach you to play in moderation.
You are like Mother in
your enjoyments, you go into
them "con amore." If you do
not harm yourself, I will be
content, for I pray that you
may be spared to be very useful
in life, and this cannot
be without health.
