A few friends attend the funeral,
but there was no display, all
was quiet and [?]
as it should be on such occasions.
Miss Woods has been having
one of her ill turns, but is now
better. She hopes to go to her Grand
Mother's to-morrow as it is the last
Sabbath of the month. Miss Reading
will accompany Miss Stewart to
their country house to-day - to stay
until Monday. Several
others will I suppose be off, and our
family consequently smaller for
a day. Mr Calkins has closed his
Wed. evening lectures, and we
shall attend Dr. Breed's until
school closes. Charlie Boardmans
wife had a daughter - his father
is at St. Louis attending the
Gen. Ass. It is hoped the old
and new school will unite.
I suppose they will unless
some old fogy opposed it.
Mrs. Laird, Miss Easton that
was, is in town, and will take
tea with the Schmucks on Sat.
Mr. Warner leaves for Europe
at the close of school.

May 26th. My pen was laid aside
to attend to [?]
and do my swearing, pretty [?]
for a lady - do you not think so.
