Friday evening July 22d 1817

Society met, attended to speaking at the Academy hall by previous adjournment, and adjourned to Tuesday evening at half past seven.

Friday July 25 1817 Society met by adjournment. Meeting opened by prayer. The enlargement of the Library being considered of the highest importance for the stability of the Society an unanimous vote was taken to raise the admission sum to fifty cents; also voted to receive into the Society, Charles S. Adams, Isiah Bent Tom, Henry Benedict, Andrew Rankin, Jonas Burnham, Isaac Rogers, Harvey P. Peet, Horatio Brinsmade, Amasa Converse. Adjourned.

Tuesday July 29 1817 Society me, attended to speaking, Roswell C. Smith was chosen Treasurer, Geo E. Adams Door-keeper and adjourned to Friday evening.

Friday August 1 1817 Society met attended to speaking & adjourned.

Friday 8 Society met, spoke, and adjourned.

Tues 12 Society met, part spoke, Fines were fixed " " at ten cents for absence, five for tardiness. " " Adjourned to friday eve half past seven, A dissertation "on the voice" was read by Br. F A Brown.

August 1 -- Society met for the introduction of officers, the validictory address was delivered by the President; Constitution presented in form by the Committe and accepred by an unanimous vote, the members there proceded to sign it; the subscription book was opened and liberally attended to.

A few farewell remarks were made by some of the members who were about leave congratulating the remaining members on the unanimity of the Society so and commending it to the Divine blessing. Meeting was adjourned to the first Tuesday evenng at halfpast seven in the next term.

Daniel L.B. Goodwin, Isaac Fuller, Harry W. Kinsman and Samuel H. Stearns proposed as members for admision. Meeting adjourned.

Sept. 23 Society convened. opened by Andrew Rankin J. Burnham chosen for ? Secretary pro tempore. Declamation by Horatio N. Brinsmade and Isaac Rogers. Debate on the question "Is the intellectual capacity of women equal to that of men." Supported on the affirmative by S. Bicknell, J. Bent, W. Gale, N. Bond on the negative. J. Burnham, H.P. Peet, R. Sanborn and P. Wright. Composition on the question, "Would it expedient for the United States to assist the inhabitants of South America in obtaining their independence."

Affirmative T. Edson, Narrator A. Rankin. Members proposed at the last meeting admitted.

Society adjourned. H.P. Peet Secy.

Sept. 30 Society convened at 7 oclock by S. Bicknell Roll called. Constitution read to D.L.B. Goodwin, Isaac Fuller, Samuel H. Stearns Henry Kinsman and y them subscribed to.

Declamation by C. A. Adams, Edson, Sanborn, Rankin, Peet, Burnham, Gale, Lyman, Fuller, Brinsmade. Criticisms read upon the compositions of S. Edson, and A. Rankin. Some observations made upon the manner of deciding questions but came to no result. Order of exercises read-- meeting adjnd.

Oct. 7 Society convened. Meeting opened by R. Sanborn Roll called. Minutes of last meeting read and accepted. Declamation-- Benedict, Burnham, Kinsman, Stearns, Peet, Bicknell, Wright. Composition, on the question, "Does marriage add to a man's weight of character" Brinsmade Aff. Lyman Negative. Geo. Folsom, Wm Chaplin, & Theron Robinson propounded as members for admision into the Society. Miscellaneous business attended to. Meeting adjourned till Tuesday 14th Instant

14th Society convened- opened by R. Sanborn. Roll called-- Minutes read and accepted. Geo. Folsom & William Chaplin admitted as members.
