J. Stearns, Dearborn, S. T. Worcester, Shaw, Palmer and Stock-
er be invited to become members of this society. The
parts for the next meeting were then made known and
the society adjourned

July 26th. Society conveined. After the usual preliminary exercises
Cowles, Crocker, & Swift declaimed, Baker read a composition
and [Rakins?] a criticism after which there was a debate on
the Question "whether it was right that Major Andre was
executed as a spy by [McLaw?] on the Affirmative and
Allen in the negative: The debate was decided in the af-
firmative. Winslow, Boutell, Hackett, Farnum, Stearns, Dear-
born, Worcester, Shaw, Palmer and Stocker were admitted as
members of this Society and signed the Constitution. Vot-
ed that Mr Gilbert, Assistant Instructor in the Acad-
emy be an Honorary Member of this Society and that
Mr. Thomas be a committee to uniform Mr Gilbert. Exercises
of the next meetting were then made known and the Society
adjourned.
