January 24, Tuesday. Society convened. After the open
ing of the meeting, H. Holmes and McHean declaimed.
A composition was read by Shaw: a criticism by Stearns.
Original acclamations spoken by Cleavland and
Winslow. There was than a debate on the subject, whether
"It would (it would) be expedient to expunge that part of
the constitution relative to courts." In the affirmative sup-
ported by Smith, in the negative by Dearborne. A motion
was then offered, proposing the rejection of that part of
the constitution above refed to: which motion was ac-
cepted. Assignments for the next meeting were then made
and the society adjourned.

Jaunary 31, Tuesday. Society convened. After the in-
cipient duties, the Society proceeded to choose its offi-
cers for the ensuing half year: The election made
as follows.

Hackett ~ V. President.
Stearns ~ Secretary.
