A Communication from Agnes Doolan was read asking to be
appointed Type writer. - Referred to the Committee on Finance.

Ald: Livingston moves seconded by Ald: Richardson.

That Aldermen Behan, Newlands, Hewton, Redden, and
Minnes and the mover and seconder be a special committee to provide
and make arrangement for Power to light the City.

In Amendment

Ald: Drennan moves seconded by Ald: Ryan.

That in the matter of contract Electric Lights, the same be left in
the hands of the Fire, Water and Light Committee - which being put was carried.

Yeas Mayor Elliott, Aldermen Allen, Behan, Carson, Donnelly,
Drennan, Martin, Milne, Minnes, Robinson, Ryan, Skinner,
Stewart, Strainge, Walkem - 15

Nays Aldn Curtis, Hewton, Livingston, Newlands, Redden,
Richardson, Tait 7 and the orginal motion was lost.

On motion of Ald Walkem seconded by Ald Robinson.

Ordered, That each member of the Council be supplied with a
copy of the consolidated Municipal Act and the Ontario Statutes for the
current year.

On motion the Council adjourned.

Martin, Milne, Minnes, Newlands, Richardson, Robinson, Ryan,
Skinner, Stewart, Strainge, Tait, Walkem

The Clerk read the minutes of the two last meetings.

Communications summarized by Clerk were read and referred as
follows: -

From Professor N.F. Dupuis Chairman of the Collegiate Institute
giving statement of state and progress of School. - Referred to Finance Committee.

From Nellie Thompson offering services as Type-writer.
Referred to Finance Committee.

From the Rev'd S.R. Black Executive Officer, Childrens Aid Society
for a grant of not less than $500.00. - Referred to the Finance Committee.

From John Macdonald Secretary Treasurer Public School Board
asking the Council to pass By Law for $16,000.00 for the purpose mentioned
in By Law voted upon. - Referred to the Committee on Finance.

From Charles McNab County Clerk County of Carleton enclosing
petitions asking to amend Ontario Election Act. Re cost of providing polling
booths
