On motion of Ald: Carson, seconded by Ald: Allen.

Ordered that the resignation of Professor Depuis be accepted by this
Council and that Professor Doyle be appointed to fill the vacancy on the
Collegiate Institute Board.

From John Odell and others Taxes. - Referred to the Court of Revision.

A Writ of Summons Keats vs City of Kingston was submitted to Council
and left-over for the present.

From F.C Ireland, City Treasurer stating amount of fees Market No 1
$1196.35 received to date. - Referred to Finance Committee.

From George Thompson Collector of Taxes giving amount of Taxes
collected to date. - Referred to the Board of Works.

Ald: Skinner asked the privilege at this stage of the proceedings of
introducing the subject of the erection of a Drill Hall in the city.

On motion of Ald: Skinner seconded by Ald: Ryan.

Ordered, That Mayor Elliott with Aldermen Martin and Stewart
and the mover and seconder be a Committee to confer with the Board of Trade
regard the building of a Drill Hall in this City with power to appoint a Sub-
Committee of two members of this Council to proceed to Ottawa to interview the
Government.

Ald: Curtis from the Committee on Finance and accounts brought
up Reports (Number 2 & 3 Book H.) which were read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Board of Works brought up Report (Number
4 Book H) which was read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee on Fire Water and Light
brought up Report (Number 5 Book H) which was read.

Ald: Martin moves seconded by Ald: Stewart

That the report on Fire Water and Light be received and adopted.

In Amendment

Ald: Curtis moves seconded by Ald: Milne,

That the report read ten days for holidays instead of one week for the
members of the Fire Brigade which being put was [underline] lost and the original
motion being put was carried.

Ald: Ryan here left.

The Chairman from the Committee on City Property brought
up Report (Number 6 Book H) which was read and adopted.

On motion of Ald: Behan seconded by Ald: Skinner

Ordered That a Committee consisting of the Mayor, Aldermen
Ryan and Stewart be apppointed for the purpose of drafting suitable
resolutions expressing the regret of this Council on the death of Dr. K.N. Fenwick,
and that the same be forwarded to the family of the deceased.

On motion of Ald Richardson seconded by Ald Robinson

Ordered, That the Chairmen of all Committees send with their notice
of meeting a means of off the important questions that are to be placed before
the Committee so that an intelligent vote can be given by the member of the
Committee.
