anything worth while came of this application for a
Scool of Forestry, except a few lectures from Prof. Fernow,
[a?] German American, who had been secured to give them
the Director of the School of Mining, Prof.Goodwin.
Since then, Forestry has become a subject of deep
interest and anxiety to the whole Dominion.
[destruction?] by fire, and otherwise, is alarming.
[In?] connection with the advent of the new Principal,
[events?] now moved rapidly. At the adjourned meeting
[of?] the Board, Jan 5th, 1903, a letter from Dr.Gordon
was read, acknowledging the formal and official
noification of his appointment; also a letter from
the Clerk of the Presbytery of Halifax, to say that
the Presbytery would do all it could to expedite
Dr.Gordon's translation. There may also have been a
[better?] or similar import from the Halifax College,
although it does not appear on the record.
[At?] the Kingston end of the transaction enthusiasm ran
high. The ocassion was one to manifest to the public
at large the strength and faith of the University,
and to indicate its present and future comprehensive
and progressive policy. The University Council,
[having?] been so often found alert and open-eyed
[to?] placing new ideas and purposes before the Board
