attention to work in the classroom and in the field.
And so the Board would have no less than three heads
of departments to elect for next session.
The whole University question was known to be coming
up for review by the Ontario Legislature, and the Chancellor,
taking time by the forelock, had written the Premier,
asking that the claims of Queen's be given careful
consideration with the other institutions. An interview
with Mr. Whitney was arranged for, Nov. 6, 1906, 11am, when
the Chancellor, the Principal and the Registrar would
meet with him, and discuss the needs of Queen's, and
her claims on the Province for financial assistance.
The Annual Meeting of the Board was held Apr. 20th., 1906.
The standing routine and formal business was quickly
disposed of, whereupon the Principal's report was
presented and received, and progress was indicated all
along the line. The attendance of students was steadily
rising, and enthusiasm and efficiency marked every
department. The financial field Secretary, Mr. Robt. Laird,
was present and gave a clear statement of the scope,
the difficulties, and measurable success of his work.
He was cordially thanked for having undertaken, in
behalf of his Alma Mater, such onerous and toilsome
work, and for his comprehensive manner of conducting
