Woolloomooloo = Aboriginal Pronunciation
Woollooh-Moollooh. A whirlpool or
whirlwind. Used by tribes in early
days of settlement to denote the
windmills along the hights of Woolloomooloo
At South Brisbane Wooloongabba is
from Woolloon whirling around &
Capemm water. Correctly Woolooncapemm.
The words Woolooncapemm was the aboriginal
name of a creek that ran parallel to the
old Ipswich Road & through Wooloongabba.
It was a series of circular or partly circular clay
waterholes only connected in wet weather. When
rain fell the water whirled around in the
waterholes before running into the next hole.
