Mr Tilton Esq
Deputy Minister of Fisheries
Ottawa

Sir

As the period is just at
hand when the net fishermen on
the Estuary of the Restigouche river
are about making their contracts
for the sale of salmon taken by them
during the fishing season: It
becomes necessary for such of the
fishermen whose catch may be
required for breeding purposes in
connection with the Hatcheries, to be
made aware as to whether Your
Department will continue the arrange-
ments which were made with
some of the fisherment last season.

[word struck out] This arrangement must
be entered into with the fishermen
at once, in order that they can make
every preparation, as to nets, etc.
in time for the coming early runs
of salmon in the Spring.

I desire to recommend
a continuance of the same system

Mr Alex Mowat
Fishery Officer

Dear Sir

Yours of 17th Inst to hand
relating to the necessity of arrange-
ments being made in time for contracting
with owners of fishing stations for
adequate supplies of Parent Salmon.
I fully concur in your view and
have this day written to the Dept
to have them carried out - and
to authorize you to arrange with
additional fishermen (should you
consider it necessary) than were
Employed last year - with the
view that, any reliance may be
placed upon securing all the supply
of Salmon necessary for the [usual?]
capacity of your establishments
at Dee Side;, and if possible to
give an opportunity for benefitting
other Hatcheries that may fail
in stocking their troughs ith Eggs.

The other matters referred to in
Your former letters will recieve attention.

I am your [?]
