Sir

I beg to draw the attention
of your Department to matters of
vital interest in promoting success
at the Restigouche Salmon Hatchery.
Namely that, arrangements should
be made without a moments
delay for capturing supplies of
Parent Salmon. -- On the 20trh Januy,
last I wrote your department
specially on this subject, and

that, he would no doubt receive

Sir

I am asked to report
upon an application made to
your Dept for a supply of Salmon Trout
fry for a Lake at Mono [road?], at the
request of one I. E. Alexander--

I notice that the Lake in
question is small and that it
is largely inhabited by Suckers,
Chub, Catfish and Sun fish --
these lower orders of fish being
numerous in this Lake, indicate
water of a high temperature, with
a muddy, marshy bottom--which features
are not favourable to the growth or
life of Salmon trout, and cannot
therefore be expected to give the returns
desired-- Black Bass, Mascalonge
or Carp-- would be most suitable
for such a water, as these fish
will prosper well in waters, where
the Salmon family cannot exist.

Supt

P.S -- I have however entered Mr Alexander[?]
as an applicant for Salmon trout fry
