Now as I am specially interested
in Salmon angling I should like
very much to make a trial of
the liquid which it is said is sold
by the gallon – Might I ask how it
would affect a linen or silk line
and if beneficially might I ask the
favour from you to forward to me say
½ gall. in a tin vessel by Express C.O.D.
so that, I might make a trial of it.
If you would also kindly inform
Me whether any special mode of
applying it is necessary; time of
soaking to thoroughly impregnate
the line, and mode of [?]

Excuse my troubling you but
as the matter is of some interest to me, and
as the good old adage “to help one another at
work or at play” is not unworthy of anyone, I
write you this letter.

which from the receipt which accom-
panies it is to cover my account
for disbursements from [June?] to December
1884, which was forwarded to your
Department in September last and
amounted to the sum of $172.35

Be kind enough to inform
me whether this [reducture?] of the
amount has arisen through over-
sight, or if not, why the account
should have been so curtailed, in
order that I may [be enables?] to place
the matter before your departments
satisfactorily.
