8 Monday

Towed Acacia to yacht squadron shed & grounded alongside slip. Variously employed. JS to town see Mr RM Hawker. Carpenter ¾ day at Porthole & mixed jobs. Mr Hawker ordered yacht to be got ready. Worked up to 6 pm. Lavatory in good order. Train fare 10. Mr Hawker & Mrs Hawker went to Melbourne.

9 Tuesday

5.30 am towed Acacia to yacht shed & grounded her & scrub bottom & variously employed. Took off propellers & fixing same. Took Port hole to Moulder & sundry jobs. Weather very hot. Made arrangements with butcher Sandford to take Portonian on 2 shares & me to take one share for the boat. Portonian sailed 7.30 pm.

10 Wednesday

5 am JS visited yacht. Dunbar ½ day getting [illegible text]. No work after dinner for Dunbar. JS got 2 tins copper paint quarts 1 paint brush 2/8 RM Hawker & got boat. JS paint. Paint bottom motor boat.

11 Thursday

JS got one tin one quart copper paint. Dunbar 3 hours at propeller no other work. Dunbar left to go to slip to put Edith Launch.

12 Friday

JS shifted boat. Motor boat bow towards shore. Painted bottom. No carpenter at work. Dunbar not working today. On the ground alongside ramp. Got ½ gallon white enameld paint. Moulder measured for shackle & services for Acacia & sundry jobs.

13 Saturday

No carpenter at work. JS painting outside Acacia & sundry jobs. 1/2 gallon Copal varnish 1.2 lbs tin chocolate paint 1.2 lb tin slate colour paint at Russell. 2 trucks 1 staff truck gilted over. Fine throughout.

14 Sunday

JS visited Acacia. Fine SW bar steady.

15 Monday

Carpenter at eingings & sundry jobs. Bowsprit. 12 inch shear & small pin. Engage one hand to paint. 2 double wood blocks 2 iron blocks & hooks 2 small thimbles 2 lb paint [illegible text] 1 putty 2 ball [illegible text] 1 small spike JS to Outer Harbour see Portonian. 1 brass cap for Bowsprit & port hole from guatro.

16 Tuesday

3 ¾ wire 2 feet 1 lbs [illegible text] wire 1 brush 2 brass rigging plates 2 trucks guilded Carpenter variously employed. One hand painting & cleaning eingings. 5 am JS to Outer Harbour. Hard gale WSW Bar 30-00.

17 Wednesday

1 one carpenter fixing chainplates & bowsprit & sundry jobs. 4 shackles small 6 small thimbles 2 ½ one inch wire rope One hand varnishing sundry jobs & mast after part of cabin. JS splicing rigging & sundry jobs. 5 am JS went to Outer Harbour. No one on Portonian & [illegible text] Clementine Ketch.

18 Thursday

Carpenter at dingy. One hand painting & varnishing. JS to town see Mr Hawker. Train in town 10 10 Dinner 1 3 Telefone 2 2 23 Acacia shore at Russell

19 Friday

2 ½ lbs one inch rope [illegible text] 4 ½ one inch wire rope lb 1 bottle paint oil 2 tin chocolate paint 1/2 copper nails one 1 ¼ inch 1 ¾ 1/ ½ 2 inch Carpenter at work variously employed. Put up two masts. Paid one extra hand 5 days 14 hours at 1/6 per hour. Working on motorboat 3-6-0. Acacia put large dingy in water. Mr Hawker visited & 3 children.

20 Saturday

Water 2 Whisker Plates 2 screwes 1 schackle for stern 1 band for bowsprit 2 wood screwes JS got cheque 10-0-0 from RM Hawker visited Friday. JS to town fare 8. Dunbar employed at boat & at [illegible text]. Cash cheque at Elders.

21 Sunday

Weather very hot. Working at Bobstay & bowsprit. Guyes splicing. Dunbar & nephew at electric lights on motor boat.

22 Monday

5 am Floated off bank hauled to moorings. Carpenter at work all day away at 3 pm. Paid cartage battages to market 2-0. 3 two 2 lbs tins paint 1/2 lb Manilla rope 1 1/4 [illegible text] bowsprit. 1 fishing line. JS paint timber 4/6 for dingy 1/9 for 6 dozen. Copper screws for boat.

23 Tuesday

Painting large dingy. Carpenter repairing small dingy. Got one quart tin copper paint at Russell. Carpenter & hand came to work at Electric Light at 7 pm.

24 Wednesday

JS to town to see about bulbs & Jacky wheal. Rec [illegible text] 4 from Mr Martin. Carpenter work ½ day up to 12 noon. Cab hire from Martin to yacht club 4-6. 6 1/2 pounds. JS paid for 1/2 [illegible text] at Marsden 9/9. Went on yacht 6.30 pm. [Illegible text] chain. Fare to town 8 [illegible text] to charge Mr R Hawker. 1 1-8.
