Yours of the 26th left but was received yesterday, inviting me to be present at the laying the corner stone of the principal building of the University of the South. Nothing would afford me more pleasure than to [? ] the cere[mony?] for I feel a deep interest in the success of the enterprise, but professional engagements will render it impossible for me to be there.
