Rt. Rev. J.H. Otey
University Place

Dear Sir,

Yours of the 26th left but
was received yesterday, inviting
me to be present at the laying the
corner stone of the principal buil-
ding of the University of the South.
Nothing would afford me more
pleasure than to [? ] the cere-
[mony?] for I feel a deep interest
in the success of the enterprise,
but professional engagements
will render it impossible for
me to be there.

With my best & ardent wishes
for the success of this [?] en-
terprise, allow me to thank
you for your kind invitation
and believe [?]

Yours most respectfully
C. F. [?] Cole
