It was with great pleasure that I received your card with an invitation to attend the laying of the corner stone of the Southern University, and, though unable to do myself the pleasure of attending, from pecuniary considerations, my heart is with you in so beneficial and glorious an undertaking. May the Lord bless it in every stage of its progress, and make it the means of diffusing sound religious knowledge throughout our whole contry.
