To the Lord Bishop
of Edinburgh.

Rt. Rev & Dear Sir,

I have been charged with the duty of asking
your aid and influence to procure copies of the statutes &
regulations which govern the Universities of Edinburgh
and Glasgow. They are respectfully solicited from the
authorities of these venerable seats of learning, that they may
assist the Committee of a University, in this country, es-
tablished on a large scale, in draughting a constitution
and laws for its government.

Any parcel or packet with which we may be favored,
in response to this application, may be placed in the hands
of the U. S. Consul, at Liverpool, to be forwarded to the U. S.

I have directed two sets of the "Wind & Ocean Current
Charts," of Capt M. F. Maury, to be forwarded to Scotland
one set marked "University of Edinburgh" - the other to
the "Lord Bp. of Edinburgh." They are both at the disposal
of your Lordship, to do with them as you please. They will
be sent thro' the U. S. Consul at Liverpool or it may
be through Mr Keith Johnson (Geographer etc?) Edinburgh
