An Act

To amend an Act of January 6" 1858 Chapter 29th of Private Laws entitled "An Act to Establish the University of the South and also an Amended Act entitled An Act to Amend
the Act of January 6" 1858 Chap 29" of Private Laws entitled an Act to Establish the University of the South passed January 19 1860

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee, That for the purpose of giving effect to the provisions and intent of Section 3 of An Act entitled an Act to amend the Act of January 6 1858 Chap 29 of Private Laws entitled an act to Establish The University of the South passed January 19 1860 giving to the said University "the right to establish such police and municipal regulations as may be necessary for the preservation of order and the enforcement of the By Laws of said University" The Trustees of the said University of the South shall have power by By-Laws or Ordinances within and upon their domain [?] To make regulations to prevent the introduction of contagious diseases, to secure the general health and to prevent and remove nuisances; To provide for the supplying of water by water works or otherwise; to open alter or abolish widen extend establish grade pave or otherwise improve clean and keep in repair streets allies [alleys] and side walks and to erect establish and keep in repair bridges
