Sir

I have the honor to transmit to ^ [added above] (you) a petition to Lord Grey on the subject of the neglect of the Officers of the Colonial Government to attend to complaint of the conduct as a magistrate of Mr Patrick Leslie made by me in a letter to the Attorney General dated the 5th day of August 1850

I beg through you respectfully to request his Excellency the Governor General to forward the enclosed petition at his earliest convenience to Lord Grey ... further that he will as soon as possible cause my name to be removed from this commission of the [Peace]

Inform Mr Gore that his letter will be duly forwarded to Lord Grey - Let a supersedeas [Latin: "you shall desist"] be prepared to be forwarded to Mr Gore at the same time

[...] let a Duplicate be prepared to accompany the Petition detailing the circumstances of Mr Gore's complaint against the Col'l Secretary & Att'y Gen'l; adding that I can only look upon Mr Gore as an external person who has just grounds of complaint against those Officers. They sh'd [should] have the perusal of the Petition in case they sh'd wish to offer any observation upon it.
