Seattle WT Aug 30th 1889 To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council of Seattle

Gentlemen:

It appears that there has been a decree passed restraining the Demi Monde from living and carrying on their business in certain portions of the City to wit: that portion used as residence for private families which I consider but just and proper and shoud be enforced.

Now I have leased from Mr. John McNaught a certain tract of land lying between 7th street and the Rail Road track and south of King Street. The property

is some distance removed from that of any private family and is only one block from what is known as White Chapel.

I have expended about $2000.00 in improvements on the property and now the police are raiding and prohibiting any woman from using the premises for conducting the business with which they are making their living. I call your attention to the fact that the place is as isolated as the locality in which they are premitted to live undisturbed, and that it is only Justice to me that my place be as well privileged or that they be compelled to vacate the quarters in which they now occupy, known as "White Chapel."

I would respectfully ask that you examine into these statements I have made and I believe that you will act with consistancy [sic] in the matter and will restrain all or will release my property from unjust restraint.

Respectfully submitted Joe D. Amico 1717 front Street City.
