JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE
And now the Ordinance Committee submit Ordinance
No 282, the same being entitles as folows to wit: "A
Special Ordinance to provide for the construction of a
Sidewalks along both sides of Washington Street from the
Centre line of Second Street to the center line of Third
Street in the City of Seattle, County of King, and the Territory of Washington" After due consideration said ordinance is adopted by the following vote to wit:
In favor of adoption, Thos Clancy, John Collins, M Densmore
Wm A Jennings, John Keenan and Chas McDonald. Against
adoption none
And now the council proceeds to open and consider
that bids for the furnishing of material for, and the building
of the City Jail and Engine House. The following bids
arre opened, being all the bids received, viz:
McDonald and Rutze $7800.00
E W Reas 7525.00
Ranke & Loshe 7600.00
John Keenan 8300.00
John P Lawrena 8300.00
M J Carkeek 9385.00
The bid of E W Reas bring the lowest it is ordered
that the contract be awarded to him upon his giving
bonds in the sum of $10,000 with two surities to build
said Jail and Engine House in accordance with his bid
and the plans and specification of said building and to
perform everything required by the contract to be made
between him and the City.
Ordered thsat E W Reas be requirred to file his
band within three days and to commence the con-
struction of said building within ten days thereafter
An application is received from H J McSorley for
permission to plan a fruit stand near Kellogg and Anderson
Drug Store
and is laid on the table.
A petition is received from H W Wadleigh et al
praying for the modification of the grade 5th in the street
