457 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Apr 18/84 Be it remembered that on this the 18th day of April 1884 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following Officers are present towit: Councilmen Thos Clancy, Geo. W. Harris, John Keenen, B. L. Northrup, Otto Ranke, U M Rasin & F. W. Wusthoff. By reason of the absence from the City of His Honor the Mayor H. G. Struve Councilman U. M. Rasin is appointed Acting Mayor to serve during such absence. From Geo. W. Harris et al for vacating alley in Block 29 [?] Boren's plat. Referred to Street Comtee From Cochran & Robb for leasing a portion of foot of Columbia Street. Referred to Comtee on Public Buildings, Property and Grounds. From D. W. Barker et al for abating nuisance of Foss & Worst Slaughter House. Referred to Comtee on Health and Police. Communications Rec'd From the Attorney on Madison Street Condemnation Proceedings, Adopted From the Surveyor for changing grade corner 4th and Terrace Streets. Referred to Street Comtee From the Surveyor reporting the facts in the matter of Wm Harkins petition on 4th Street grade matter. Referred to Street Comtee From Surveyor recommending the approved of "G. Kinnear's plat of an addition to City of Seattle" Adopted & Mayor & Clerk instructed to certify the same Committees Reports From the Committee on Judiciary approving an Ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 317. Received From Street Comtee recommending that the Surveyor be instructed to make the necessary Surveys and Estimates for the proposed grading of Sames Street from alley East of 3rd Street to 5th Street. From Street Comtee recommending that the surveyor be instructed to make the necessary surveys and estimates for the purposes of grading of Bell Street from First Street to 5th Street. Adopted From Street Comtee recommending that the surveyor be instructed to make the necessary surveys and estimates for the proposed grading of Howell Street from 8th to 10th, along Bismark and along Bismark to Republican. Adopted From Special Comtee recommending that the petition of W H Shoady et al regarding Denny's Water Front Addition be referred to City Attorney. Adopted From Silsby Mfg Co offering to furnish an Engine; also from The Gutta Percha & Rubber Mfg Co offering to furnish hose. Referred to Ranke, Wusthoff & Keenan. An ordinance is submitted entitled "A special Ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills". Miscellaneous Orderedthat the Comtee on Health & Police be & they are hereby instructed to examine the matter of a nuisance complained of by Roff Abrams Ordered that the Street Commissioner be & is hereby instructed to remove Sewer foot of Cherry Street. Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Tuesday evening April 22, 1884 at 7& 1/2 O'Clock P.M.
