May 7 1886
Councilman Young moves that the police force
be reduced to nine officers and that all salaries by
reduced to $65. per month; lost by the following vote
in favor of the motion Councilman R H Calligan,T W Lake,
Chas McDonald and G W Young; against Councilmen
J Furth, Geo W Hall, W A Harrington, J J Post,
the vote of the councilmen resulting a tie and Mayor H L Yesler
cast his vote against the motion
Clerk submits an ordinance entitled "A Special Ord-
inance appropriating money to pay audited bills" which
is adopted by the unanimous vote of all the councilmen present
On motion the Council does now adjourn

A Special meeting of the COmmon COuncil of the
City ofSeattle is hereby called to be held at the
Council Chamber at the hour of 7-30 o'clock
P M on Monday May 10th 1886 for the trans-
action of such business as may be properly
brought before it
