The following officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor Robert Moran and Councilmen Burns, Durie, Green, Jones, McCombs, McDonald, Niesz and Reitze. Whereupon the following proceedings are had to wit: Petitions etc. Petition of A S Miller asking that his name be stricken from the Madison Street grade assessment roll as owner of Lot 2 Block 21 Boren's Addn and the name of M V B Stacy substituted as petitioner was not the owner of said lot when the street was graded. Read and Referred to the City Atty.

569 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE AUG 17 1888 Petition of D N Hyde & others for a sidewalk on the south side of Bluff Street from Light Street to Glover Street Read and referred to Street Committee. Petition of L Miller and others for extension of the Street Light Limits, read and referred to Com on St. Lights. Petition of Mill Street property owners to grade Mill St from South Fourth Street west to South Second Street so as to conform to the established grade, read and granted. the work to be done under the direction of the Street Commissioner. Petition of Frank Gumbert and Fred A Johnson for changing liquor license from Gumbert & Clinch to Gumbert & Johnson; read and granted provided a new bond is filed. Committee Reports Recd' From Committee on Fire & Water granting petition of Geo B Kittinger for permission to raise certain buildings on Washington Street with the restrictions that no basements for occupancy be constructed nor present buildings be changed in form or size. Adopted. From Same Committee rejecting petition of J W Hunt for permission to make certain repairs to building on South Second Street. Adopted. From Same Committee rejecting petition of Peter Durase for permission to erect a boot black stand on Mill Street. Adopted. From Same Committee rejecting petition of R T & J H Rengstorff for permission repair and alter wooden buildings on Lot 5 BLock 6 A A Denny's Addition for the reason that to grant said petitions would be to virtually authorize the construction of new wooden buildings. Adppted. From Committee of Fire & Water rejecting petition of Mrs E Peiser for permission to build a wooden addition to Peisers Art Studio on Second Street and recommending that the building already erected be removed forthwith. Adopted. From Same Committee rejecting petition of R Petkovits for recommending that the luiding already erected by forthwith removed. Adopted.
