Seattle WA Aug. 20th 1890 To the Honorable Mayor and Common Council of the City of Seattle: Gentlemen: Noticing in the column of a morning paper that you are to hold a special meeting at 10 o'clock a.m. for the purpose of taking under advisment the bid made last night by Chicago parties for the purchase of nearly a million dollars of your municiple bonds, the writer, a resident of your city begs to inform your honorable body that he has been negotiating for eastern capital -ists with reference to a purchase of of said bonds. That he hoped ere this to have made a bid for their purchase, but owing to the ill advised publicity concerning the legality of the issue of said bonds made by a portion of our city press, there has been some delay. As it seems an injustice to the taxpayers of this city to take hasty action in the consummation of a sale of so large

an amount of city securities upon a single bid where more liberal bids the writer feels some will be made provided action is defered, he therefore begs that the sale of the city bonds be held open until Monday the 25th
