Clear S.E.
Ther. FRI. MAY 12th, 1899. Wind
Willie came over early &
after breakfast he took Edward
to Kensington on his
way to Washington to try
a position offered to him by
Dr. [...]Hoard, as assistant
to them in amusing & caring
for a son of theirs who is
insane & whose constant desire
is to commit suicide.
We are all much opposed
to his undertaking it,
but
he was determined to try it.
Old John came & trimmed the
hedge, working at it all day.
Willie came back to lunch
& went back to "Fairfield".
Mrs Patty Hopkins called to see
Edwd about assisting at an
entertainment at Highland for the
benefit of the church. I went
to the store & P. O. & to Fairall's
office.

Cloudy & Clear S.E.
Ther. SAT. MAY 13, 1899. Wind
Cloudy most of the day with
some rain in the morning, but
seemed to clear off towards evening.
I went to the P.O. and to
Fairall's office. Mrs Oldfield
came to the office to see me,
and informed me that her son
George had received my letter
containing bill & that I would
"hear from him soon." etc.
I went to the mill in the afternoon,
where they are putting up
a new water tank or "reservoir."
After supper went again to
the store & P.O. Fred Iddings
brought me an "Evening Star"
Washington newspaper again.
