109 Meeting

Notwithstanding the condition of the
roads, quite a goodly number of our members
met at the house of W. W. Moore _ Plainfield Feb.
14th 1880. Margaret Magruder, Hannah Brooke,
Ellen Stabler, Edward Gilpin & wife, John Thomas
and wife as guests, added much to our pleasure.
The meeting was called to order about five
oclock by Benjamin H. Miller foreman, one
hour after the time appointed for meeting.

How to drain a yard that will remain muddy.
Cover it with gravel or finely pounded stone
Slag also recommended.

Where to keep dried beef _ Hang in a dry _
well ventilated place _

How can we protect the birds. Efforts
have been made before but with small results.

A request for a good recipe for buckwheat
cakes. Scald one cup of corn meal, add 5 cups
buckwheat flour _ thin with either milk or
water. Vigorous beating required, to which
our colored friends seem approved.

Soap is again brought to the surface, &
reminds us of a Jack-in-the box, always ready
to spring up _ and rear its ugly head, demanding
impossible things of an already tormented
