292nd Meeting
Walbrooke-
8-9-97

The Home Int. held its 292nd meeting at Walbrooke
the 9th of August 1897. When the hour for calling the
meeting to order arrived, pro tem punctual President was
not at hand and he only arrived in time for supper
leaving us to our own devices until that time.
An important Temperance meeting was the cause
but we record it for fear a chance may never come
again to accuse him of being late.

Ladies assembled in full force & talked in low &
sympathetic undertones to our hostess, who had
lost her voice from a heavy cold.
The masculine element seemed entirely lacking
until we decided to take our walk out of doors
when we found the missing members in a group
on the lawn, and were pleased to find they were
busily engaged in building a railroad to Sandy
Spring. tho' like most railroads to this spot we
fear it will only run upon imaginary lines.

The tall & beautiful Cannas at the end of the
house were very attractive and the garden looked
well, with numerous egg plants ready to use, and a
good succession of corn.
A plum tree in the yard was so laden with fruit that
many of the upper branches were breaking, and out of
sheer pity only we did what we could to relieve the
lowest branch if a few.

After tea the meeting was finally called to order,
both sets of minutes read & we preceded to questions.
