Bloomfield 1st month 26th 1860

The Association held its third meeting at this place. Three
members were absent: S. A. Gilpin, B. I. Lea, and A. E. Hartshorne --
and two guest present, S. B. Stabler and S. Needles. We
assembled before dinner, and directly after proceeded to
business in the usual manner. After reading the minutes
of the last meeting here, and of last month, the secretary called on

1st R. E. Gilpin who spoke of her greenhouse, made to keep tender
plants without fire, which she considered a successful experiment,
as it is, tho' not quite complete.

2nd M. L. Roberts read an extract from T. S. Arthur, "How to be happy".
Think of others good more than your own: be cheerful and unselfish.

3rd J. Porter, "Woman's Mission" -- the old idea newly drest in poetry.
Our mission, it declares is to cheer old age, to soothe suffering,
guide the young, and promote good and happiness always.

4th S. E. Peirce read a beautiful poem "Growing Old", her own
selection, and also a note from D. A. Lea, and an excellent
article sent by her, "On the Intellect of Woman," with which
we were much pleased.

5th E. G. Thomas read from a paper, "The Blessing of the Lord maketh
