rich", a good essay, showing how impossible it is to attain
true happiness in any way without the blessing of the Lord,
and with it, how happy we may be in adversity and trial
of any temporal kind.

6th H. G. Moore showed us a pencil, used for marking linen
instead of durable ink - a new invention -- and also offered
an extract on the importance of sympathy between parents
and children, for the good and happiness of both.

7th E. D. Bentley read "This world is full of Beauty" a poem
breathing love to mankind, and thanksgiving to Heaven.

8th S. H. Stone offered another poem by H. Ware, "What the
year has left undone", expressing the remorse of the writer
for the good he had failed to do.

9th L. G. Thomas, "The Cliff Swallow" an interesting anecdote of
the faithfulness of one of this species to another in distress.

10th M. Farquhar read "The last of Earth," an article showing
how little there really is to envy in the lot of the so-called great of the Earth.

S. B. Stabler was called on, and offered a poem called "Little at first,
but Mighty at last" which tho' not new to us was read and admired.

Then after enjoying pleasant desultory conversation awhile, we adjourned
to meet next month at A. Gilpin's.
