Avalon 11th Mo. 24 1887

A large company of members and
guests met here today - and although the
weather was not of the brightest it being
damp and disagreeable, the good cheer, good
humour, and selections, made this
Thanksgiving day, one to be remembered
with pleasure.

We regretted the absence of our secretary
whose duties at home prevented her being
present, and S F Gilpin was requested
to act as a substitute - being as her hand
was in!!

A E Hartshorne began the usual exercises
by reading in an effective manner, the
poems "The Brotherhood of Man and "Beautiful
Things."

M W. Kirk Selected a portion of one of Arch-
deacon Farrar's sermons to boys - but admi-
rably suited to older minds, "He that is
unjust in the least, will probably become
unjust in the most. He that is faithful
in the little prepares for greater things and
may grow to be one of the heroes of life.
Count no duty slight; whether it be great
or small.
