ture et si desplaist moult a dieu aussi nulz biens
nen poevent venir Mais plus volentiers tra
veillent et diligentent dacquerir les biens mon
dains que lamour de dieu. ne ja ne feront riens
par ordre ung jour vont matin a leglise et laultre
jour tard. ou a telle heure quilz cuident que trop
aient demoure a faire leur besongue dont ilz

themselves at ease and in a safe location and at peace, then
they die in great pain. For their desire to have possessions
and their way of acquiring them without order
or measure brings them to death all the sooner.
And there are many dead men who, if they had
ordered their affairs as they should, each hour of the day being
regulated and appropriate, would still be alive and in
good health. Yet see how they shorten their days and
hasten their death! For in the long run Nature
cannot tolerate unreasonable behavior nor sudden
aggravation, by which with their foolishness they
torment Nature and cause God to be displeased. Nothing
good can come from it. But they
work and strive to acquire worldly goods more willingly than the
love of God, and will do nothing in the right order. One
day they going to church in the morning, and another day
late. Or at a time when they think that they have
spent too long doing their work, by which they
