know that although he has left this earthly habitation, he has bequeathed to this country a memorial which shall endure as long as time shall last, for love never dies, and it was that grand trait which he possessed that has brought into existence the great Universities which are to build up the lives & characters of our young, which will love throughout all eternity, he has brought into existance what many of us would aspire to do, but could not owing to our inability, and to him and you his dear wife belong all the honor, and I for one thank you.

I called at your dear home in Sac. & met Mrs Chapman, & she wished me to express to you her kind remembrance, tears filled my eyes when I saw the little play things in the corner, for I thought of him and my darling one who have gone to the heavenly home, happy will the meeting be when we all meet to part no more.

With deep sympathy & respect
I am yours sincerely
Lizzie M. Botsford.
