and grow as years pass on

You have great cares
devolving upon you, perhaps
it is better so, as they will
occupy you to the exclusion
of saddening thoughts but
I trust strength may be
given you to perform all the
duties you have taken upon
yourself in carrying out the
mutual wishes of yourself and
Senator Stanford - with sincere
love which has been the
growth of years and with
kindest wishes for your
dear health. I am believe
me, yours devotedly

My Dear Mrs Stanford.

My thoughts are
with you continually in your
loneliness. My sympathies
go out to you. And I feel
constrained to write you in
memory of long friendship.
I remember back to days
long ago - when we were
much younger and our
lives were filled with
happiness and the light
thoughts of this world - how
happy you were in the
companionship and devotion
