of your dear husband - his
duties and cares were
great then - but life was
full of hope - and you
were surrounded by all
that made life complete.
- the years have gone on-
they seemed so long to
look forward to them. but
how short few as we look
back upon them - you have
both realized those hopes
in a magnificent degree
yet sorrow came to you both.
Time brings an end to all
things here. The grand life
of Senator Stanford has
ended in this world, and
you stand alone. Husband
sister and son have gone
before - I know that though

you are sad and lonely
your faith sustains you.
believing that your dear
Son has met his Father and
welcomed him to the world
beyond- We shall all
soon end our lives here -
that must be so. but oh,
my dear Mrs Stanford my
heart aches for you bereft
of the sympathy and support
of your dear husband
and I want to offer to
you my sympathy in your
loneliness- Mr Dodge joins
me in this . we feel that in
your great loss. we too, have
lost a friend. The world has
lost a noble life but his
example will remain forever
