for he spoke so beautifully of
living a life of usefulness and
of helping the great human family,
possibly that text which had so
often been in his thoughts since his
eighteenth year, might be another
legacy to humanity by having
the text for his funeral sermon.

Pardon my coming to you. The dear
old times of long ago, when you and
your dear husband did so much
for my happiness, is never forgotten,
and now that the shadow of death
has enveloped you in its sadness
I cannot help but say I love
you and sympathize with you
and pray God to comfort you.
