Dear Mrs Stanford I called at the Convent
to Day and the sister's superior told me they sent
a telegram of simpathy [sic] or condolence to You,
and raised the flag, at half mast, but the
papers made a mistake and gave the credit
to some San Francisco Convent instead of
this in sacramento they are sincerely sorry for
You and they Pray for Mr Stanford,
every Day and for You, that You may have
Grace to bear Your loss, and be Comforted.

I hope You are well in body and tranquil
in mind, and Your Brother also is better
and Your little niece is a comfort to You;
I arrived safe Home and am now as usual
thoug [sic] feeling a little weak,

hopeing [sic] this will find
You well
