My Dear Mrs. Stanford.

I dared not intrude upon your terrible sorrow for I know human words and sympathy can do but little when our poor hearts are broken with grief! I have prayed for you constantly and I felt sure you had that sweet comfort of feeling and knowing that now your two dear ones were together, and ever near you.

This Summer has been a very sad one for us. My dear Father-in-law was taken

suddenly very ill with appendicitis and an operation had to be performed to save his life. For three weeks now he has been in the same position and of course each day we scarcely hoped to see him alive until the next. His Faith and patience has been so beautiful through all his suffering. The Surgeon thinks now that he is out of danger, but for five weeks longer he has to remain in bed and in the same position.

My little Boy keeps well and is such a comfort to me, he is now quite a big boy, nine years old!

I do hope dear Mrs Stanford that we may meet soon, for I feel

so deeply for you, for how well do I remember the sympathy and love you extended me when all seemed so dark and lonely.

Excuse writing and paper as I send this from a sick room, but accept from my Boy and myself much love, and kindest regards from Father.
