The church makes some
progress and we see
some good results among
the people and the large
number of young people
whom we want to reach
and help in the best
life for them. I know that
our faithful sexton John
Hawen thinks of you and
will sorrow with you when
he learns of your sorrow.
He often speaks of you
and we never go into the
little Monterey Chapel
without being reminded

of you. Since I reached
New York in May, I have
learned of the death of Dr.
McCall - I bade him good
bye before we sailed. He
was feeble then; the poor
weak body could not do
all that his soul longed
to accomplish. He gave
his life for the good of his
fellow men. I knew him
intimately and honored
his spirit and consecration.
On the table of his home
lay a volume of the memorial
of your son. How many
lives are touched by one!
