Dearest Madam!
I take the liberty to write to you, and beg you to help me
through my difficulty, as you are such a charitable woman,
I know you will help a good woman, as this is my only chance
and hope that you will save us, as the inclosed clipping
fell in to my hands, by accident I take courage to write
you with out my husband knowing it, a short history of
my life, to show you that I am worthy of your simpathy [sympathy]
and help, Seven years ago we were liveing in Oklahoma
happy and doing well, we stayed there about six years
when my health comenst to fail and the Drs advised
us to go to Texas, My good husband sold out his business
at a loss, and we came to Dallas Tex. My husband
started business in Dallas, and we made a liveing
when bad luck overtuck [overtook] us we lost our darling baby
boy of seven Mounts [months], our little girl of three years
her health wasent good, and we were affreight [afraid] to stay
there longer and hearing of this health place we came
here, we have a nice stock of goods about $4,000 and my
husband owes on it about $1500.00 being new beginers [beginners]
