of clear water I ask him what he was going to do and he told me he was going to wash his head so I went over and roled [sic] up my sleeves and started in to wash his head. and when I woke I found it was all a dream I was a heart broken cripple yeat [sic] I been having very bad luck for the last week I had 8 acers [sic] of land and thay [sic] is a moraged [sic] on it for $600 dollars I tried to aucton [sic] it off but I could nout [sic]. the man says it is not wort [sic] his $600 dollars Moradge [sic] I sent the lady up to him for the

rent and he would not give her it he said he would not give anymore I have not one realetor [sic] friend but my little girl and she said dont [sic] cry kid while you have me to take care of you. I cant get im [sic] to bed with out her. I asked the lady will come and order me out of her house. if you have a old shawl or a old dress that you have put a side I would like to have them if you will give them to keep me warm I wish you could help me in some way as I need it very bad I am still praying for you, and you will have good luck,

Having just received a letter from a very dear niece from The Stanford University California beings many past events to my memory.
In 1863 my dear departed husband was ord[er]ed to the Pacific Coast carried with him from Governor Randall a very warm letter of introduction to Governor Stanford who accepted it very cordialy [sic] My dear husband became an ardent admirer of Governor Stanford

dear husband used to say of Governor Stanford God bless you I can truly appreciate The Sorrow which you have passed through My own dear husband was snatched from me in one moment in perfect health. I wrote to my friend Mrs. Hancock who was living in Washington City How bad it was for me to say Thy will be done Her reply to me was I can not say it But I say Oh Lord how long The Sommons come to her I hope God has placed Them both in Paradise Very respectfully yours, S.A.
