you. I wrote you a
few lines in leaving
Washington, to tell you
how much Colonel Grant
and I regretted that it
was impossible for us to
call upon you, before
leaving, and to express
our appreciation of your
kind desire that we

should pass our time with you
while there. Dear Mrs Logan must
find her grief almost unendurable,
and we hope she may find some
comfort in her children and friends,
the blow was very sudden and terrible.
