Dear Friend

I cannot tell you
how tenderly I am drawn to you by
your note & the precious book. I was
much prostrated by our interview &
feared you might be also. After seeing
the porcelain picture of the dear boy
my heart went out to him in such a
way that I seemed drawn into fellow -
ship with your loss; and then when
he alluded to my own trial as greater
even than yours, all the terrible past
crowded back upon me & my strength
gave way. But I am coming back
