My dear Mrs Stanford:

I have been busy today
without success in trying to raise some
money for you. There seems to be none
to be had at first sight, although I may
find some at any day.

I am to have a definite answer
on Monday from one man & will let you
know the result. Next week may
possibly develop some one with means, & I
shall keep right on trying to find him.

I go to Loma Prieta tomorrow
morning but shall be home Sunday night.

Mr Lathrop wished me to tell you
that he had called upon the gentleman you
spoke to him about, but did not find him in;
& that he would call again tomorrow.

With kindest hopes for you good
health believe me with love, sincerely yours,

Timothy Hopkins

Mrs Leland Stanford
