Dear Friend:

I enclose a
letter which was directed to you
with orders that it be opened here
if you were away from Palo Alto.
The letter, I presume, explains
itself.

You will be interested to know
that our Commencement Exercises
passed off very pleasantly
indeed. We had the Gymnasium
full of people and [a ?] we had a
very charming and inspiring
address from Rev. Myron W. Reed
of Denver on the subject of "What
makes a Nation great?"
