[preprinted] OFFICE OF VINA RANCH

H.W. McINTYRE, GENERAL MANAGER

Vina, Cal., [/preprinted] August 6 1893 [preprinted: 189]

Mrs. Jane L. Stanford,

Present

Dear Madam:-

I have the honor to hand you the following statement concerning the amount due and payable to men employed on Vina Ranch during the month of July.

There were employed, as per our payrolls, 302 men, and the amount due is found to be $10790.56.

Of the number of men thus employed, 50 are at this date marked for discharge immediately upon receipt of funds necessary to pay them off to date. I should have stated that a portion of this number of men are employed with our threshing outfit, and their work will not end until Tuesday of this week, 8th., inst.

Other men will be discharged as soon as work on Palo Alto horses shall have been completed or diminished.

Whether any additions to our pay roll will be necessary during the month, it is impossible at this time to say, as it will depend upon the ripening of the grapes and preparations for wine making found absolutely necessary in consequence thereof.

In conclusion, I beg to assure you that no effort will be spared
