Wilson and Hubbard were formerly employed as watchmen at the race track and Copeland stables. The order for the discharge of these two men was given as directed by Mrs. Stanford, but upon receipt of money for paying off these and others it was found that there were more to be discharged than were reported when requisition was made. These two men being far more necessary on account of weaning young colts were retained temporarily, and others discharged in their stead. Mr. Robinson reports Mr. Hubbard as still necessary for the same reason - that is, colts just weaned are constantly getting into trouble at night, and require constant care.
