been plentiful, and in good time, the season is favorable and the prospect for a good year extremely promising

Mrs Smith wishes to be kindly remembered, the change for the winter to San Francisco, has been of benefit to her, but the country is getting so beautiful now, we are anxious to get back to our little country home

We will be glad to see you back, and hope you will both improve in health every day, and that there will be given you both the strength and the opportunity to witness for many years to come, the full realization of your good works

Ever Sincerely Your Friend

SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY. TREASURER'S OFFICE.

N. T. Smith, Treasurer

San Francisco, July 27 1893

My dear Mrs Stanford

I send you herewith as suggested form of a letter to Frank Covey requesting the sale of 680 horses at Vina and Palo Alto reserving 320 beside the thoroughbreds and the work horses.

I have written Mr Covey saying to him that you approved of the plan of putting the horses in condition and preparing them to be sold as soon as practicable and that you would write him, giving him the authority to go on as understood between us

I will be anxious to hear how you have got along with the surgical operation, which I hope and pray will be successful

Sincerely Yours

N T Smith
