My Dear Mrs Stanford

Mr J T Wilson handed me a short time since the inclosed [sic] letters written to him by your darling boy in June 1879

These letters written when a child are so manly and thoughtful, I know you will appreciate them as only a mother can

The season reminds me that Christmas is near, and how lonely you will be, while your dear husband and darling boy are where they can only speak to you through the language which loved spirits whisper to

SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY Treasurer's Office.

San Francisco, June 29. 1895

My Dear Mrs Stanford

I heartily congratulate you on the decision rendered by Judge Ross to day

I know it relieves you from a great anxiety, and will put the Leland Stanford Jr University in a safe and secure position

Lawyers of standing and ability who are not railroad men, have already told me that Judge Ross' opinion was so strong and clear that there can be no doubt of its correctness, and that it will elevate him in the opinion of every just and right man

Right and justice is confirmed, the noble work of your dear husband is sustained, and the hope and desire of your heart is nearer its realization

Faithfully Your Friend
